J.E.D.I. Talk: Architecture through a different lens

The J.E.D.I. talks (Just Equity Diversity Inclusion) are hosted by the RIBA NE ‘Change The Record’ campaign group.

The J.E.D.I. talks have become a popular platform for discussion on themes varying from flexible working, the impact of the pandemic, racism v. inclusion, gender diversity and the human cost of architecture. We’re excited to announce what’s coming next.

Architecture through a different lens: Tuesday 26 September

We’ll be looking at "Architecture through a different lens", from Architects and educators who see a different future and therefore practice differently, driven by diversity of influences and experiences, both culturally, physically, socially and economically. How can our differences open up a breadth of practice and alternative options to do things differently when we don’t fit the ’typical'?

Join us to hear stories from those who don’t fit the traditional. This will be an inspirational, uplifting and encouraging session. A celebration of diversity in practice and education.

Everyone is welcome to join our conversation. We endeavour to be a non-hierarchical, value driven group in pursuit of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in architecture. The discussions take place under Chatham House rules, to safeguard all who participate.

Speakers:

- Nimi Attanayake | Architect and landscape designer & Founding Director, nimtim architects

- Andy Summers | Glasgow-based architect, educator, curator, and public programmer specialising in architecture and the built environment.
