Week in the life of a 22 year old 4th year architecture student from Mumbai, India

Written by Latte, Edited by Aliya @archistudentnotes

This week we have a week in the life submission from a 22-year old 4th year Architecture Student studying and living in Mumbai, India.

This is our second repeat writer for ArchiWeek which is great to have! If you want to submit your week for the first time or again - click here!

Would you have tackled the week any differently?

Monday

Got the offer letter I was waiting for. I will finally be working in the field I have always dreamt of.

Here in India our 7th semester is an internship and mine was just finalised yayayay!

Note from Aliya @archistudentnotes: Excellent work! Working experience in the field of architecture, preferably in an architecture office if that is the route you want to take, is always a good idea if you can get one! It allows you to really see what life in practice is like and what working as an Architect could be like too!

Tuesday

A silent day were I watched movies. A death on the Nile, Haunting In Venice. If someone here is an Victorian era fan and loves movies, do watch them.

Wednesday

Went out with friends for my birthday. We visited a museum (very architecture student of me hehe) and I enjoyed the day. We discussed all our internships, semester end breakdowns and lots of thesis works.

Note from Aliya @archistudentnotes: I recently visited the National Gallery in London and forgot how much I enjoyed them, if you are an architecture student definitely find one close up, look at the exhibitions, maybe an event, and of course the architecture!

Thursday

My Grade sheet came in. I passed, nope not just passed but got a 9.08 (we have a 10 pointer grade system). As someone who had mental breakdowns and crying fits every other day I did damn good.

Friday

My previous confession came to mind and I smiled. It seems silly now that I stressed so much then. All things I had worried about have fallen in place - many new things have taken their position. But still, the course is difficult, it's tedious and tremendously taxing but it pays off, at least for me it has.

NOTE FROM THE WRITER

I am the same Latte who had previously written about procrastination and falling behind. The stress that week had gotten so bad I skipped lectures for 2 days straight. When I saw the post I read it not as myself but as a student seeing another struggling. I thought of ways I could help her, comfort her and did just that.

I started small, wrote down what my portfolio could have, spoke to faculties about my design work, asked classmates for help with theory assignments and today I am okay. Still have work to do things to complete, but I am happy. Things will get difficult but I'll get through, I know that, and more importantly I believe that.

And that’s the week!

Thank you so much to our writer from Mumbai, India for this weeks submission and congratulations on the job offer! It was a great read especially considering Latte’s last ArchiWeek submission, so much progress!
