Week in the life of a 16-year old aspiring Architecture Student living in Nigeria

This week we have a week in the life submission from a 16 year-old architecture student living and studying in Nigeria.

In the UK studying architecture at 16 is rare and I have only heard of one way to do it which would be at GCSE level which would be taken between the ages of 14 and 16. Curious to see how the GCSE architecture differs?

Would you have tackled the week any differently?

Monday

I'm currently writing my final exams for my first year in university. I didn't have any exams on Monday but I spent the whole day preparing for my Physics exams which I had on Tuesday. Physics and I aren't the best of friends unfortunately so it was very stressful. I was quite moody too.

Note from Aliya @archistudentnotes: I had very similar feelings about physics at A-Level, loved the subject and my teacher was intense but I found it quite hard!

Tuesday

The day of my Physics paper. My exam was in the afternoon, so I slept in a bit. When I woke up and freshened up, I did a little revision before heading out for my exam. It was surprisingly calmer than I expected. I spent the remainder of the day studying for an exam I had on Wednesday.

Wednesday

I had a really important paper at 8am. I woke up super early and headed out for the exam. It went really well.

The second year architecture students had their final jury for the school year. I waited behind to experience it.

I questioned my decision on studying architecture multiple times when I saw all their beautiful works. I frankly don't know where the inspiration comes from to be honest. It was fun though.

Thursday

My last exam for the week. It was a freehand drawing exam so I didn't have to study.

It was in the afternoon so I had some time to rest a little. After the exam I went back to my room and had a little refreshing nap. Since I had no exams on Friday, I decided to unwind a bit before going back to reading for my next week's papers.

I watched some episodes from my favourite TV show(Ted Lasso) and slept.

Friday

Friday was my cleaning day. I started off by doing my laundry, then washed my bathroom and felt so happy. Then I cleaned my room and myself.

I had a call with some online friends then started studying for my remaining exams. I decided to spend the day on maths because I have the exam on Tuesday.

It was quite frustrating because it's integration but I pulled through(yay!) And I ended the day with some episodes from Ted Lasso.

Note from the Writer

The week wasn't too stressful thankfully.

And that’s the week!

Thank you so much to Temilope for this weeks submission. Wishing you luck on your journey in architecture and whatever comes next!

Sounds like you’re definitely on the right route with what your studying; Physics, Maths and a subject that requires some freehand drawing (assuming art) I did the same A-Levels with the addition of Economics!

Any tips or advice from Temilope, please leave them in the comment section below!
