This ArchiWeek we have a week in the life submission from a 20-year old 3rd year Architecture Student living and working in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Have a read about their week and then check our their Instagram: @_ash.arch for examples of their work!

Would you have tackled the week any differently?

Monday

This week was the lead up to the final review so it has been super busy! Woke up relatively early (7:30am) and I spent Monday working from my plan of work and organising orthographics/drawings/pin up for Thursday.

Note from Aliya @archistudentnotes: A plan of work, a to do list, a calendar, whatever you use to stay organised is important day to day but can keep definitely keep you going working towards a deadline

I also have a job so my evening was spent working and drawing!

Tuesday

Another early start to prepare for reviews!

I wasn’t in a headspace to work on my design module so I spent the morning reading and researching for a graphic essay for my history module. In the afternoon, I detailed my plans and elevations for my proposal, worked (again!) and had a great time in studio!

Note from Aliya @archistudentnotes: I also worked throughout my bachelors and masters degrees and whilst it was sometimes annoying that I had to go off to work whilst others could work on their project, I found it kept me from procrastinating as much because I just didn’t have the time.

Wednesday

Surprisingly I was working on my review pin up again!

I slept through an alarm so I had a slightly later start than I would’ve hoped but got to working ASAP.

Had a very late night making sure my detailed section was perfect.

Thursday

The big day!

Spent an hour waiting for my printing for pin up but the review went so well! Celebrated by taking a nap and seeing some friends.

Friday

Rest day! Had a haircut, ran some errands and went on a 14 mile walk with my best friends. It was great to catch up even though we work in the same studio.

Note from Aliya @archistudentnotes: I completely get that, the studio is definitely a place where you can spend 12 hours a day, 5 days a week with friends and never actually talk to the about life, just architecture.

NOTE FROM THE WRITER

‘Architecture is all about balance and I’m still learning haha’
