Top 5 list of websites to find an architecture job

Throughout my architectural career when I have needed to look for an architecture job, I use all 5 of these tools.

General Job Sites

Websites like Indeed and Reed can be used for all job searches and are great if you are not completely set on the job you would like to apply for. Searches like ‘design’ or ‘architecture’ will bring up a selection of jobs to apply to. Not however the greatest tool if you are looking specifically for an architectural assistant position.

Dezeen Jobs & RIBA Websites

Both websites are generally focused on architecture and design and they both have dedicated sections of there websites for job adverts. These websites, I have found, are more helpful for bigger firms and for those in central London but they are still worth a visit anyway, just in case.

Social Media

At the very top of this list is LinkedIn. Firms might advertise jobs on the site and in some cases you can apply directly using your professional profile and digital CV. Another platform to consider is Instagram as a lot of firms will advertise jobs there. (Where I found mine).

Networking

Another great way to find a job is to ask friends, other students, former tutors, or even former employers. Someone might know a firm that is looking but might not have started advertising yet so you can get in first and have an insight into the firm before you even apply.

Firm websites

In my opinion, the most reliable and easiest way to apply for a job in architecture (along with networking) is to look at the company websites. I would recommend researching firms in the area you wish to work and then visiting each website to see if they are hiring. If they are not, contact them anyway!
